It is named after the first builders and owners, Counts Pejačević. It is located in the city centre, surrounded by a park, on the site of a medieval fortress, which in the early 19th century gave way to the castle, the seat of the manor.
Today it is surrounded by a dry moat, which is crossed on the north side by a masonry bridge (the oldest bridge in the city), and destroyed in the southern part during the construction of a swimming pool.
Surrounded by a park, Pejačević Castle is still the main compositional feature of Virovitica. The park was built in the early 19th century and is a protected monument of park architecture.
The vegetation of the park is of different ages, the trees from the time of the creation of the park are very impressive. There were several farm buildings and a garden within the castle.
