Invisible creatures that pull chains behind them and are only visible at night are called krivomjeri. These are the souls of those who cheated during their lives while measuring land plot boundaries. They are now doomed to measure the earth forever, until they measure it fairly.
According to narrators from the area, krivomjeri, merneki or inđuljeri are always accompanied by peasants with lanterns arguing over land and boundaries as they are measuring them.
The destiny of a krivomjer is to measure throughout the whole of eternity, that is, they must justly measure all that they have wrongly measured in this world on another. It is believed that it is not wise to meet with them, and whoever wants to expel them from their land just needs to swear at them. It is characteristic of these creatures that their shapes are not clearly visible, but only the flickering of the flames from the lantern can be recognized. They move silently, but their voices are heard far away.
